FCA to Launch New In-vehicle uConnect Market Commerce Platform

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), the well-known global automobile brand, has recently released an all-new in-vehicle commerce platform called uConnect Market. This platform enables customers to order and pay for food and fuel and make reservations at their favorite restaurants and bars by using their vehicle’s touchscreen.

FCA says it expects all vehicles will connect to the new platform by 2022. For now, uConnect Market will only be available to connected cars in the US by the second half of 2019.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will deploy an over-the-air update, but this only covers model-year 2019 and 2020 Chrysler, Jeep, Ram and Dodge brand vehicles that come with an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen. Later, a global rollout of the platform will cover new variants equipped with touchscreens.

According to Alan D’Agostini, who is the global head of FCA’s connected services, the goal of the uConnect Market is to provide their customers with an “advanced portfolio of services” that can make their daily lives much more “convenient, productive, and enjoyable”.

To develop the platform, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles partnered with Xevo–a Seattle-based firm acquired by Lear Corporation recently.

How does uConnect Market work?

To get started on uConnect Market, all you have to do is link your credit card to your vehicle using the platform’s service. Then, you can start ordering, paying, and making reservations by tapping on your car’s infotainment screen.

On top of ordering food and making reservations, users of uConnect Market also can find stores, restaurants, and petrol stations that lie the closest to them. They can also avail money-saving incentives and special offers at various selected outlets, locate and pay for parking that is closest to them, and also schedule their service appointments at all FCA dealerships.

Popular brands such as Dominos. Shell, Yelp Reservations, and Park Whiz have partnered with FCA for the uConnect Market, allowing users to use of these services from the comfort of their car. Mopar, an aftermarket network from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, will also be available for use on the platform.
