Trail Rated® - What is it? | Keffer Jeep

Have you ever wondered what the Trail Rated® marking on some Jeeps meant? How is that title given, and what does it entail? Here at Liechty Dodge in Bessemer, AL, we want our customers to be as informed as possible, so you can drive off of our lot with the car, truck, or SUV of your dreams, and are confident in your decision. The Trail Rated® rating is a badge, not easily given, and is a testament to Jeep’s commitment to pushing boundaries in their quest for the toughest, most durable vehicle physically possible. All Jeep testing is done on the Rubicon Trail in California and in Moab, Utah, and very extensive in nature, testing vehicles in five different categories: Traction, Water Fording, Maneuverability, Articulation, and Ground Clearance.

Jeep Trail Rated Tests

Traction: Jeep’s Trail Rated® 4x4 vehicles are able to handle the roughest of terrains with ease, whether that be the backcountry, rocky trails, or a slippery, icy snowstorm, these vehicles can handle it all.

Water Fording: Jeep’s Trail Rated® 4x4 vehicles can cross expanses of water that a normal vehicle just couldn’t pass without getting flooded. All of the Trail Rated® vehicles have all of their electrical connections sealed away from the water, with elevated air intakes for just such purpose. So, don’t be afraid next time you have to traverse that stream to get to your favorite fishing spot, the Trail Rated® 4x4 Jeep will get you there no problem.

Maneuverability: Because of these vehicles more precise steering and upgraded wheelbases, your Jeep will be able to quickly react to any obstacles that might suddenly block your path, or come up suddenly. Or, if you find yourself on a tight mountainside, trust in your Trail Rated® Jeep’s ability to make the tightest and sharpest of turns to keep you on the right track.

Articulation: Jeep understands just how uneven off-road conditions can be, and how much fun they are to be on. That is why all of the Trail Rated® 4x4 Jeeps have the best suspensions, able to handle even the most sudden changes in the surface whether large or small. A Jeep with higher articulation ensures more stable wheels even when one or two of them are off the ground.

Ground Clearance: All of the Trail Rated® 4x4 Jeep’s ensure you plenty of room for fallen timber, rocks, and other obstacles that will be sticking up out of the terrain you will be traversing, all without any damage to the body of your vehicle.

Currently, Jeep offers five vehicles that have Trail Rated® models - the Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, Compass, and the Renegade. Stop by Keffer Jeep in Charlotte, NC today and test drive your new Trail Rated® vehicle and then go and push your adventure to the limit - we promise, your Jeep can handle it!
